RLI are delighted to confirm that we have agreed 3 Senior International games later in the year where the best players in our domestic competition will gain full international caps against other developing nations. These games will help develop our local players and prepare them to step up to the European Championship games in the Autumn.
The first game will be the visit of Belgium on Sunday 13th July. The game will be played in Leinster and details will follow. Belgium are coached by Tony Benson who has been involved with Ireland previously and we look forward to welcoming him back to Ireland.
Our second game will see Ireland travel to Serbia on 29th August. Serbia have seen the game grow significantly over the last few years and continue to set high standards and will prove a huge challenge for Ireland.
Our third game sees Ireland travel to Malta on 5th September. The game in Malta has also progressed recently and the national side have a mix of experience to call on.
RLI are excited about this new approach to international games and look forward to the games. We hope this will help the game grow in Ireland and lead to more local players developing a career in rugby league….. CLICK HERE for more.
