Carrick U10’s excel Aviva Connacht Mini Rugby Festival in Ballina (M.Nee )

On strong Carrick’s U10’s panel travelled to Ballina to compete in the Aviva Connacht Mini Rugby Festival on Saturday April 9th.

Carrick were drawn in Group 1 against Ballina, Buccaneers, Castlebar and An Ghaeltacht. First up were Ballina who exchanged tries with Carrick in the first half, however in the second half Carrick upped the tempo eventually running out winners by 3 tries. The next game against Buccaneers was a very tight, low scoring affair with both teams evenly matched. The first half was a physical affair ending all square with one try each. The second half looking like it was going to end in a draw with both teams defending stoutly until Buccaneers eventually drove over for the only try of the half. The opposition for the third game came from Castlebar who over the course of the game were unable to contain the Carrick attack who ran out winners by 8 tries to 4. Last up was An Ghaeltacht who tested Carrick with a mixture of strength and speed, however the Carrick were up for the challenge and ran out winners by 3 tries.

Carrick are now in with a chance of being selected to play Aviva National Mini Rugby Festival in the Aviva Stadium on April 30th.
