Following last weekends farcicle referee no show for the Corrib V Loughrea game, Corrib returned to action 3 weeks after their last game. A Saturday night game away to Creggs, conditions were again perfect save for a bit of ground fog towards the end of the first half. It was a tight affair from the start with Corrib getting of the blocks fast and scoring a try through Mairtin Lee at the end of a strong maul after 15 minutes. Evan Flynns conversion attemp was charged down and dropped short as a result. Flynn would tag on one penalty shortly after. Corrib conceded a three pointerone at the end of the half to leave the score 8 – 3 to the visitors. In the 2nd half, Corrib conceded 3 penalties and scored one in a poor 2nd half showing lacking intensity and ambition and thereby allowing Creggs to grow in confidence throughout the half in front of large home crowd. It’s worth mentioning the winning Creggs penalty was kicked from close to the half way line dead centre of the pitch with less than five minutes left on the clock and at the start of the move, it could so easily have been a penalty to Corrib at the other end of the pitch for an offside. However, the break was for the home team on this occasion. The result leaves Corrib on 7 points and ahead of Creggs and Tuam in the table. Next up is Ballyhaunis in Headford next Sunday.
