DUX and Bang & Olufsen Reveal the World’s Most Exclusive Headboard
In a groundbreaking collaboration, DUXIANA and Bang & Olufsen, two Nordic powerhouses, have unveiled the world’s most opulent headboard.
This masterpiece, crafted from solid oak or walnut and accented with composite stone side tables, integrates Bang & Olufsen’s famed audio technology.
Central to the innovation are the Beosound Level speakers, featuring a robust two-way setup with four drivers, including the most powerful woofer in any portable speaker. This ensures an immersive audio experience, enhanced by built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, enduring battery life, and wireless charging.
This unified system promises to revolutionise home entertainment by integrating cutting-edge home automation technology. Features such as adaptive RoomSense technology, which tailors playback to the environment, and streaming via Airplay or Chromecast, offer extensive personalisation and expansion possibilities.
Both DUXIANA and Bang & Olufsen are deeply committed to sustainability. The Beosound Level speakers’ Cradle to Cradle certification, integrated into the sustainably sourced wooden headboard, underscores their dedication to sustainable design and future-proof technology amidst increasing product turnover and waste.
Priced from £41,750 for the headboard alone to £56,500 including the luxury DUX bed, this creation sets a new standard in luxury home living.
Kevin Slade, Director of Growth at DUXIANA, expressed his enthusiasm: “Our collaboration with Bang & Olufsen marks a milestone in luxury living, blending sleep performance with cutting-edge audio technology to craft unparalleled experiences.”
Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko, Head of Industrial Design at Bang & Olufsen, added: “This partnership pushes the boundaries of design and technology, redefining luxury with integrated audio and sleep solutions.”

ABOUT THE BRAND
DUXIANA: A Century of Crafting Comfort, Innovation, and Iconic Swedish Design
Nestled in the heart of Malmö, Sweden, the story of DUXIANA unfolds—a narrative that spans nearly a hundred years. It all began in 1924 when Efraim Ljung, a Swedish chocolatier, embarked on a business trip to Chicago. Ljung had no inkling that his journey would lead him away from confectionery and into the realm of bedmaking, a legacy now carried on by his four great-grandchildren. Struggling with rheumatism and sleep issues, Ljung enjoyed a restful night’s sleep on the hotel mattress. Intrigued, he dissected it, revealing a network of flexible steel springs.
Following that pivotal moment, his focus transitioned from chocolates to mattresses, delving into experiments with steel springs of diverse strengths and elasticity. Within two years, the inaugural bed emerged featuring an innovative spring system responsive to pressure and weight, comprising thousands of interlocking coils. In 1926, DUXIANA was born and the journey of pioneering bed design began.
Forty years later, guided by Erik, Ljung’s son, the company expanded its horizons, venturing into furniture. Collaborating with renowned Swede Bruno Mathsson in the 1960s and 70s, they created timeless pieces like the Jetson and Pernilla 69, defining the collection’s enduring Scandinavian aesthetic. Today, DUXIANA beds reign as the ultimate symbol of luxury, adored by a discerning global clientele, with prices ranging from £3,000 to £100,000. Despite not being a household name, DUXIANA’s renown for unparalleled craftsmanship and opulence transcends borders, captivating a global clientele of sports icons, celebrities, and affluent individuals, with bed installations in exclusive settings such as private jets, yachts, trains, and even submarines.
At the core of DUXIANA’s success lies its relentless pursuit of innovation, embodied in the continuous coil system in its mattresses —a closely guarded secret that ensures unparalleled comfort and ergonomic support, promoting deeper, longer sleep. Pioneering initiatives like the mattress topper, which incorporates the Pascal system, offer customised spring cassette solutions tailored to individual body zones for enhanced comfort and longevity.
DUXIANA products embody sustainability by utilising durable materials and a component-based design, ensuring longevity. Bed bases are crafted from slow-growth pine sourced from northern Sweden, while mattresses feature Swedish steel, hevea latex, and high-quality cotton. This commitment to quality extends to personalised comfort across the DUXIANA range, from the sleek DUX 1001 to the luxurious DUX Xclusive with adjustable lumbar support.
Turning to the furniture collection, the iconic Jetson chair, designed by Bruno Mathsson, reflects both his obsession with comfort and classic Swedish modern design. Upholstered in high-quality materials chosen for durability and sustainability, the Jetson chair features a bowl-shaped seat, an ergonomically designed high back with head pillow, and a chrome swivel base with a unique self-return mechanism.
In 2001, The Ritzy collection debuted with a three-seater sofa boasting an exquisitely designed back. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2021, DUXIANA introduced a two-seater sofa and an armchair. Following suit in 2023, the stylish Ritzy daybed emerged—a pinnacle of comfort and sophistication, boasting patented Pascal springs for maximum comfort. Available in a variety of upholstery and materials that complement the existing sofas and armchair, this daybed features stainless steel legs, epitomising Swedish furniture craftsmanship at its finest. A footstool has since been added to the collection which is fabricated in DUXIANA’s own factory in Sösdala, southern Sweden.
Throughout the decades, the family has remained faithful to Efraim’s ethos, refining his concepts to create products synonymous with comfort, performance, and durability. “Our fundamental vision has always revolved around producing unrivaled comfort and craftsmanship,” affirms fourth-generation CEO Henrik Ljung during a tour of the brand’s Sösdala factory, where a dedicated team of artisans meticulously handcrafted chairs and tables for clients across the globe. “We take immense pride in our traditional methods,” Ljung continues: “yet, this doesn’t imply a disregard for new technologies; quite the contrary.”
With a presence spanning 34 countries and over 300 retail outlets, alongside installations in 150 luxury hotels, including collaborations with prestigious properties like Grand Hôtel Stockholm and boutique gems such as The Audo in Copenhagen and Pater Noster in Sweden, where guests enjoy bespoke outdoor beds for a starlit slumber, as well as partnerships with the revered Tottenham FC Lodge, DUXIANA continues to expand its reach.
Next month the brand is set to unveil a DUXIANA Sleep Sanctuary within a leading London hotel, promising bespoke experiences that go beyond mere sleep.
