WASPS LAUNCH NEW ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN CELEBRATING COVENTRY & WARWICKSHIRE
Wasps have today announced the launch of a new, multimedia advertising campaign entitled Another Local Great. The campaign celebrates Coventry & Warwickshire’ rich, cultural history – from Sir Frank Whittle to The Specials – and positions the Club as another reason to be proud of the region.
Running until the end of the season, versions of the Another Local Great campaign will be released which celebrate:
- William Shakespeare, born in Stratford-upon-Avon.
- Coventry born Sir Frank Whittle’s invention of the jet engine, which was produced in Rugby.
- Coventry’s history of industry, including the production of the first tank – in Coventry in 1915.
- Coventry ska band The Specials.
Nick Eastwood, Wasps CEO, said:
“Until now, our marketing has focussed on selling tickets to the opening games at the Ricoh Arena, but we recognise that there is still a lot of work for us to do in order to build and maintain a new fan base in Coventry & Warwickshire, to add to our existing, loyal supporter base. This campaign, along with the work we are already doing in the local community with schools and rugby clubs, is another way we’re hoping to engage with a new audience and turn them into fans.”
“The campaign is a little tongue-in-cheek; although we do not wish to be presumptuous, we hope people recognise that Wasps, like Coventry & Warwickshire, has a proud history and has achieved some great things. We are a club with a winning mentality and, while we are very proud to be building our future in Coventry & Warwickshire, we also want to bring the benefits of our success to the region.”
The Another Local Great campaign, which will feature on outdoor, newspapers, digital and radio advertising across Coventry & Warwickshire from today, was devised by advertising agency BBH Sport and implemented by marketing agency Epsilon.
