VisitEngland, the national tourist board, has launched a series of animated destination films to mark the start the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour. ‘Tourist Tactics’ gives viewers an irreverent, colourful yet informative preview of the sights, sounds and tastes of Rugby World Cup 2015 and England’s host destinations.

The Webb Ellis Cup arrives in Tokyo, Japan, today for the first leg of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour, where VisitEngland will be on hand to welcome the world. The Trophy will spend five days visiting locations in and around the city before being the centre piece at the top-of-the-table Asian 5 Nations 2014 clash between Japan and Hong Kong, which is also the decisive qualifier for who will secure the Asia 1 spot at Rugby World Cup 2015.

The Tour, which is being delivered in partnership with Land Rover and DHL – two long-standing supporters of the Game and Rugby World Cup 2015 Worldwide Partners – will see Rugby’s most coveted prize visit 15 countries over the next 12 months as part of a celebration of Rugby in the lead up to Rugby World Cup 2015, hosted in England.

Rugby World Cup 2015 will span England with games being played in Newcastle upon Tyne, Leeds, Manchester, Leicester, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Gloucester, Exeter, Brighton and London, as well as matches in Cardiff, from 18 September until 31 October 2015.

VisitEngland’s Chief Executive, James Berresford, says, “Our series of short films have been designed to spread the word, inspiring visitors at home and abroad to explore England before, during and after Rugby World Cup 2015. The host destinations and venues are ready to welcome both rugby fans and those wanting to soak up the atmosphere that the Tournament will create.

“I believe we are entering into one of the most exciting times for English tourism and Rugby World Cup 2015 will be instrumental in helping us secure England’s place as one of the most exciting, dynamic and beautiful destinations in the world.”
