On Sunday 6th March last nine school teams from the surrounds of V.R.F.C club area, embraced the Deer Park venue for the Regional Tag rugby Qualifier blitz. Hoping to represent the Club and School in the provincial competition.
The event turned out to a great success, enjoyed by all participants, leading to a very competitive competition. The teams were put into three groups with each group having three teams.

Group one consisted of St.Josephs 1, Mullagh 1 and Cross.
This group was a very tough and hard fought, with the eventual winners of the group being Mount St.Josephs from Kingscourt on point’s difference. However the runners up St.Killians from Mullagh ended up going further in the competition.

Group two consisted of St. Josephs 2, Billis and Castlerahan 2.
The Kingscourt school showed their strength and depth as their second team qualified for the other semi- final against group one runners up St. Killians.

Group three consisted of Ballinacree, Castlerahan 3 and mullagh 3.
A strong Ballinacree side took the group one spot with comfort.

The two semi- finals brought two nail biting matches as Ballinacree faced off against St. Josephs from group one to win (1-0).
In the second semi- final the group one runners up St. Killians beat the Group two winners St. Josephs by a one point score after extra time the game ended (1-0).

The final game brought Ballinacree to face St. Killians there was good skill and passing through-out the match with good awareness and rugby played by both teams. As the final horn blew Ballinacree where too strong for the Mullagh side and ran out (4-0) winners.
Finally a word of Thanks to all who helped make this a wonderful day for everyone.
