We arrived at Ravenhill at 9am to find a band of dedicated supporters who for one reason or another were available on Tuesday morning to rally round in good old style to clear the snow off the pitches again!
Having perviously done so last Saturday, the fresh snow from Monday evening which may be followed by more before this Saturdays major Heineken Cup game, was even heavier than last week.
Marshalled with military efficiency by Jim Ireland we were split into two teams. 1) tarpaulin draggers (which is a bit like pumping the legs with an 18 stone prop hanging off your waist and 2) snow shovellers which is a bit like line out lifting but alot easier.
Within 2 hours the snow had been scrapped dragged and pushed into two long cigar shapped mounds which were then shovelled into two tractor and trailers to be deposited beside the score board which said Welcome To Ravenhill!
In order to at least enjoy our work a joker suggested we cover the member of the team in the trailer tramping with snow.
Video highlights of the covering with snow incident are below and you can also enjoy some pictures of Ulster’s loyal supporters.
The Day We Had To Scrape The Snow Off the Pitches At Ravenhill! There must be a song in this!
Well done to one and all and see you all there later in the week hopefully to watch the game.
