UUJ Produce Another Win

Ulster University Magee travelled to Jordanstown to play a friendly squad game against Abbey Insurance sponsored UUJ in preparation for them entering the Student Sport Ireland League.

It was a very entertaining and physical game giving UUJ coach, Mark Henderson an opportunity to see his First XV squad in action for selection for next weeks game against QUB. Although a number of the squad were not available the players who took the field all held their hands up for next week.

The hard work put in during training since the return from Exams showed as last week the side were “rusty” against MET, Moves went well and defence was massive making for this entertaining game. UUM were skillful and very aggressive in the contact making for what was a competitive match and forcing UUJ to give penalties away. However UUJ were to come away winners with a 66-0 scoreline but UUM did not make the win an easy one and both sides suffered a number of injuries most notability for UUJ was centre Niall Kelly with a shoulder injury.

UUJ thanked UUM for making the journey down to Jordanstown and hope to return the favour later in the season
