On Saturday the 14th April the students of University of Ulster Coleraine or UUC, wrote a new chapter in their rugby club history books. The UUC 1st XV travelled to Omagh knowing the Q2 league would be decided that afternoon. Only once before had the UUC club been in the situation where a win would clinch promotion to the highest level in their history and that was back in 1976 where they lost a narrow lead in the final minutes and had to wait until this day in 2012 to have another chance.
The game was another excellent example of the quality of rugby played at this level by teams such as Bangor, Ballyclare ,Enniskillen and Grosvenor through-out the season. However it was the determination and passion in the students playing a fast, expansive and enjoyable game which has been the students’ ethos all season that saw them out score Omagh on the day five tries to one to take the league and now they will hope to build and establish their club in the top levels of the Qualifying league.
The club offer a unique rugby experience for any rugby enthusiast or player of real ambition by combining your academic career and sporting endeavours by playing, administrating, touring and socializing with your peers before returning to your home clubs or moving on to AIL rugby, fitter, physically matured and technically improved.

To that end we are now calling on all current and prospective students (those leaving school in 2012) to make contact with the club and hear the plans being put in place to ensure the consolidation and growth of the club in Qualifying 1, Junior rugby, Irish colleges and the ladies game
We understand that school leavers may not have their grades yet but we would still be delighted to hear from you if you are planning on joining the University of Ulster on any campus this forthcoming year.
