Its that time of year again when the domestic rugby league season
kicks off in Ulster with some new faces taking part.
Once again everyone will be trying to break the Ballynahinch Rabbitohs
domination of the league, having won their 3rd straight domestic title
last season. It has been getting closer each season and perhaps the
fact Fermanagh Redskins and not the Rabbitohs won the Ulster 9’s last
weekend maybe we will see a change this year.
Along with the Redskins, Belfast Bulldogs have traditionally been the
closest to the Rabbitohs having contested the 2009 and 2011 finals.
The Strangford Sharks, Portadown Pumas and Ballynahinch Bunnies all
compete again this season while there are new teams in the shape of
the Maiden City Broncos, Antrim Eels and North Coast Boomers.
There has already been Ulster success this season with Ulster Students
winning the inaugural student inter pros while the senior team open up
with a fixture vs Leinster on Sat 2nd of June at Malone RFC.
