Call it the business end of the season, call it whatever you want but in the next 2 months Ulster sides will build up the ultimate head of steam as we establish the province as the play maker in Irish Rugby. For too long the same perceived ideas about what level we are at have become engrained. Now the lion hearts will destroy everything in front of them in a rugby frenzy of power and skill. This province has amassed untold numbers of victories and promotions over the past two years as we have redied ouselves for the ultimte battles that lie ahead because now we are not practising anymore! and that has been done because we are very, very good at this game.
The end game is upon us in 1A, 1B, 2A & 2B, the battle lines have been drawn and our sides are getting into the mind set that has no place for fear, no place for doubt, no place for division, no place for putting ourselves down by thinking that they are better than us, or that we are not good enough.
All our clubs from the groundsmen to the supporters, to the officials and fans, to the growing number of teams in each club with youth systems fielding more sides, with adult sides springing up across the province as every rugby club is growing again, growing towards surpassing the past and moving to a future where the province of Ulster Rugby is the place that ignites the passion in this sport, globally!
This new generation of young players and supporters who are swelling the match day attendances surpassing records and spreading the rugby gospel of mutual respect and tolerance, combined with the true warrior heart on the pitch, this new generation will move relentlessley up the ranks of committees, and the players will take the ground on the pitch in front of us and the future!
We have all connected now with the will to power and the future is for the taking. The future will be ours!
Everything will intensify now, as Sir Ian McGeehan has noted in a recent conversation – “we had to ask Jeremy Davidson to calm down in Lions training because he was injuring his own team mates, such was the fury he had”
Everything will solidify now into the mind set that carries every side to their goal –
Why? Why get out of bed in the morning? Why do anything at all? Because being part of this is better than being part of nothing, believing in this is better than believing in nothing, and achieving something that is difficult shows everyone that we should be respected, that we will fight for dignity, and for the values that we do believe in, and even in the darkest hours, and the hardest yards the belief is there that will move every obstacle in front of us.
Belief is healing this province of 40 years of internal conflict and it will bring us to a better place.
