Latest from Tir Chonaill 13th Dec…
Referee Report: The club were delighted with the report written by referee Billy O’Gorman of his experiences of travelling to Carrickfin from Newry to referee the senior game between Tir Chonaill and Inishowen in September. There has been tremendous positive feedback about this, and it was great publicity for the club. The tale has now been told among many others of interest in the recently published ‘Rosses Annual’ on sale now with all proceeds going to Dungloe hospital. The Annual makes a great stocking filler and TC would urge all to support and buy it.
Mini Blitz : The minis travelled to Ballyshannon last Saturday for a blitz involving the host club and Letterkenny minis. The weather wasn’t ideal, with icy roads curtailing numbers from Letterkenny and a few from TC. The all weather Lakeside was playable however, and another fine morning of mini rugby was enjoyed by players, coaches, parents etc. TC U 12s had a difficult day meeting two very strong teams, the U 10s were their usual exuberant selves, and the U 8s as always providing the best entertainment! The CRO says Under 8 rugby is real hardcore, and that’s a fact. These kids really give their all for the club, hats off to them all. TC wishes a Happy Christmas to all our players, parents and coaches, but particularly our Mini and Youth Players.
Under 13 s : Sadly the game against Letterkenny was cancelled last Saturday, the guys are anxious to get playing again after a couple of defeats, and will travel to Eniskillen on Saturday with high hopes.
Seniors : After the historic double win in the league, it was back down to earth for the squad with 23 – 6 defeat at home to UUC in the McCambley Cup. Several factors conspired against the team, and it was felt that this was a winnable game and possibly an opportunity lost. The boys look forward to a trip to Ballymoney on Saturday, and are hopeful of continuing to climb the league, and this will complete the 2011 program. All in all the team can be satisfied with their progress this year, and can take a well earned (half) break. Many thanks to the increasing number of supporters who turn out to watch!
