The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) is an association of local clubs run by young people that welcomes members from all communities in the town, city and countryside.
YFCU has approx 2,500 members aged 12-25. There are currently over 50 active clubs in Northern Ireland.
Approximately 40 of the clubs have entered to compete in the now annual Young Farmers Tag Rugby tournament and this year we are covering the heats and finals.
Heat one was 26th July at Armagh RFC and heat 2 Ballymoney RFC on 27th July. The Finals are Saturday 31st July at Banbridge RFC.
We covered heat one and were very encouraged by the standard across two sections, juniors and seniors.

The standard was good, and a number of players stood out. We sincerely hope these young farmers are part of rugby clubs because the free flowing talented rugby they played at heat 1 would be a credit to any rugby club.
Well done to the Ulster Development Officers, staff at YFCU, and Northern Bank the official sponsors. We are looking forward to the heat 2 results and the finals this Saturday.
An extremely worthwhile tournament developing rugby and the enjoyment of sport.
