Superb!
This restaurant came very highly recommended to us. We are delighted to confirm that it is excellent.
Convienantly situated on the Dublin Road it is within walking distance of the city centre and a fantastic location for any occasion. The decor is very comfortable and relaxing, it is well lit but not overpowering. Smart casual dress code and maybe a bit more on the smart. The regular clientelle here is very sophisticated.
The feel of the restaurant is sophisticated but not over the top.
For design, layout and atmosphere we would give this 10/10.
The restaurant has a ground and first floor. Ground floor is a cafe, light snacks and perfect for during the day for business meetings, lunches etc. We were greeted and brought to our table on the first floor. Immediately seated and presented with the house menus. An excellent wine list which we did not choose from given our strict training regimes.
Starter – Superb. Smoked Haddock and leek in a puff pastry case. The dish itself was perfectly cooked. The right heat, and a beautiful taste. 10/10
Main – Even Better. Roast Monkfish provencale. I will not forget this main course or the starter. Perfect!
Desert – Lovely. Rhubarb Crumble with Ice Cream. Gorgeous.
If anyone asks me to go to The Square, or what i think of the square my answer will be, “you will have very good food in a very refined restaurant with a style and quality of food that many try to emulate and few succeed. You will not be dissapointed.”
Fellow dinners Mark McCrea & David Pollock i can tell you were just as impressed. An out standing dining experience!
