Having seen the Pigdog Ladies from Canada earlier this year playing at Dungannon and Carrick we had a feeling that United Rugby Club on tour to support the Canada Womens team in the World Cup would be serious contenders for the Inaugural Quins 7s trophy.

However, the superb performance by United was only bettered by St Marys who were immense, to say the least.

Special Thanks To David Irvine Photography For The Snaps! Brilliant stuff from his daughter Eileen for scoring a class Cooke try!

Its a good sign for the sport as the game is very, very strong in Canada!

We caught up with United for a comment, they said, “Its been brilliant, the rugby today was excellent and we have really enjoyed ourselves!”

Any team that makes it to a final in Ulster well definitely have enjoyed themselves playing against such strong opposition on the day.

TEAMS PRESENT: St Marys, Cooke, United Rugby Club, Ballymoney, Carrick, Enniskillen.

ST Mary’s were phenomenal with flowing and attacking rugby that just got better as the day progressed. Cooke our local favourites were excellent, always capable of winning but perhaps had one of those days.

Cooke got the bowl beating carrick

Enniskillen played of against Ballymoney

St Marys the overall winners in the final against United

A bright sunny day at Harlequins, it is a credit to them to have organised the 1st ladies sevens in Ulster Rugby.

Lots of fun and all teams enjoyed their day and used it effectively as preparation for the up coming season.
