Pirrie Park on a superb sunny Saturday. Saturday the 11th September to be exact.
THE TEAMS:
Sullivan 1st xv v Methody 1st xv.
Coaches:
Mike Rodgers – Sullivan. Nick Wells – Methody.
A tale of two halfs, Methody with the home advantage settled into their own playing conditions much better than Sullivan. Then on the turn around Sullivan having just returned from their South African tour benefited from much better fitness and they began to see the results of their tour and its worthiness.
First half – the Sullivan mistakes were capitalised on by sharp backs on the Methody side particularly their number 15, when the ball was kicked he attacked very well.
1st score came from Methody, a break away from their wing and he managed to run the length of the field.
Left the scoreline at 5 nil
Methody had a good spell of 20 mins on the Sullivan line. Following a well rehearsed line-out catch drive and release of the ball short of the line, allowing their winger over for their second score converted.
Second half – Sullivan enjoyed much more of the play. Forwards were very good allowing Ross Adair over the line following a well worked backs move converted by Oliver Mathews.
Their then followed sustained pressure on the Methody line and Methody held on for a hard fought 7-12 victory.
