II XV 22 v Derry YMCA RFC II XV 10
The second XV hosted a much improved Derry YM seconds side and were rudely awakened when staring down the barrel of defeat, at 0-10 down, but the experienced 2s showed their champions’ form and ran out comfortable winners 22-10
Tries from simon mowbray, chris holden and 2 from norman lindsay and one conversion by master mowbray were enough to secure the win and continue a year long unbeaten streak in the league
16 club members also completed their first day of a mini rugby coaching course and the feedback from it has been extremely positive. Our aim is to start training minis in late October and we will release details shortly.

On Saturday 28th Strabane’s 1st XV played way to Lisburn in their very first Qualifying League 2 game. Although the sun was shining, and the Strabane men played a good game, they went home with a 38 – 12 loss to Lisburn. They started the game well, holding strong for the first 15 minutes of the match receiving a penalty kick taken by Kyle Barr, narrowly missing the posts. the bounce of the ball seemed not to be in Strabane’s favour as 3 tries were run in from some what strange refereeing decisions but such is the game . The last Lisburn try came from a stolen ball, well driven to the try line. After a gruelling battle, the first half ended 22-0.
Again the Strabane Boys played well although the Lisburn team managed to achieve two tries and both conversions 10 minutes into the second half and after another intense fight for the ball, Strabane achieved their first try by Johnny Robinson and a conversion by Kyle Barr. Another try and conversion from Lisburn and one last fighting push from Strabane, gaining another try and conversion by Johnny Robinson and Kyle Barr brought the game to a close. A poor start to Strabane’s Q2 experience but the team is up beat on where the errors are and how to fix them. The home game V Limavady R.F.C next Saturday 5th October will bring the opportunity to improve their performance; please come out and support the team
Also, a big thanks to the supporters who travelled up to Lisburn RFC and our hosts for the generous hospitality we were shown.
