The Young farmers Clubs of Ulster Tag Rugby Final JNR final was held on Saturday past @ The Antrim Show. The standard of Tag throughout the two heats was top drawer, but most of all the fun and good spirit and ethos of sport was evident across the teams. A real good night was had at the two heats and also on the finals day at the show.
YFCU sponsor Danske Bank are superbly supportive of this sponsoring the event.
“The action kicked off with 7 winning teams of the junior county heats taking to the pitch. The top 2 teams from each league made it through to the semi finals which resulted in Spa YFC and Kilraughts YFC in the final. Following an exciting final, Spa YFC picked up the Rosemary Cooper shield for the second year in a row and the YFCU tag rugby 2014 junior title.
YFCU Deputy President Roberta Simmons announced the winners and John Henning, Head of Agri Relations, Danske Bank, presented the Rosemary Cooper shield and commemorative medals kindly provided by the bank.
Fair Play awards were presented to Spa YFC (juniors) and Coleraine YFC (seniors) for the courtesy and respect they showed towards their team mates, opposition and referee.
YFCU would like to take this opportunity to thank Danske Bank for their continued support of this YFCU event and in particular John Henning, Debbie Reid, Andrew Tecey and Roberta Armstrong for attending the heats and final.
Thanks are also extended to the IRFU Ulster Rugby development officers for all their help and support in running this popular competition and to the Order of Malta, Ballymena unit for attending the heats.”
