New research shows that Sunday at 9am is the most popular time that Brits want to bonk… And that Tuesday at 9pm is the least popular.

But Saturday is by far the sexiest day of the week with 11.30am, 10.30pm and 11.30pm all making the top five, with a late entry at 10:30pm on a Friday to complete the line up of when people would like to have sex.

No matter who you are Saturday’s sexual popularity follows across all age groups, all regions and for both men and women. However, when the weekend’s festivities are over and the early mornings start again the nation loses its mojo, putting Monday and Tuesday bottom of the list!

The survey of 2000 Brits by Superdrug, reveals that people want to have sex far more at the weekend than during the week, and the desire to have evening/night time sex is stronger and more frequent than morning sex, even at the weekend.

The results have led Superdrug to develop an entirely new product line of fun lubes named after these specific times, as Alix Fox, Superdrug’s sexpert explains, “It’s all too easy for sex to slip into a robotic routine, especially in long-term relationships,” Fox says. “There’s a risk that if couples default to doing the deed in the same way and at the same time, every time, things can soon become stale and boringly predictable rather than passionate.”

“I’m not at all surprised that Sunday mornings are such a popular slot for sexiness: people are relaxed, and have more time on their hands, so a lay-in often leads to getting laid. And that can be lovely! But simply switching up the day on which you get dirty can be a surprisingly effective way of spicing up sex, and re-energising your relationship. It’s really worth making this small effort, as it can have a big positive impact.”

“If you usually use sex to wind down at the weekend, try humping on ‘hump day’ instead – you may well find it makes your working week less monotonous and stressful. Or if you tend to make love last thing in the evening, when you’re both shattered, try moving the action to the a.m. when you have more energy – I thoroughly recommend a cheeky quickie in your morning shower to get the day off to a superb start!”

“Superdrug’s new Sex O’Clock lubes are a fun way of dropping a hint and kicking off the conversation. Plus, lubricant always makes lovemaking smoother, slicker and more comfortable whether it’s dawn or dusk. It’s one of the most useful products anyone can bring into the bedroom.”

Superdrug’s Head of Commercial Healthcare, Allen Webb, says, “These lubes make a great, naughty, suggestive little Valentine’s gift for any couple where routine overwhelms raunch, it’s time to break dull habits and try something new.

“We’ve also included some of the less popular times in the bottle range to encourage people to really think about making time for each other when they’re other half least expects it… because who doesn’t want to be wanted, whatever the time of day.”

“And while Sunday morning came out in first place, it would seem cosy Saturday nights in are the new going out!”
