Service Stride Into Action
Caretaker Captain Takes Care of Business
11/10/14 was a bright and warm October afternoon. It was however not only the weather that was bright and cheerful, Service, led by Caretaker Captain Peter Hoskins gave the kind of performance that they had been threatening now for some weeks. A tale of two halves is an over used phrase but it is neither needed or accurate in this case. Service showed a 15 man effort for the whole 80 minutes which saw then dominate in this 52 – 8 victory.
Brendy, JC, Scotty, Owen, Geoff, Ben, Greg, Yussef, AJ, Tom, George, Nellins, Les, Emmet and Hosky. The lads to a man, gaving the kind of performance which excited not only the injury plagued support crew of Powell, Burnsy and Murray but worried head coach Roy as he faced having to pay for 15 man of the match pints.
Scoring came from clean and crisp handling, power running from the pack and then the delicate footwork of the back division. A Hoskins penalty added the earliest of the points before 7 tries came crashing in from Les x2 George x2 Yussef x2 and Hoskins. To add to this Hoskins managed all 7 conversions. Cavan put in a hard shift and were rewarded late on in injury time when they finally managed to break the Service ranks and cross for a try of their own……. see more at :- http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/civilservicenirfc/s/match-centre-76473/0-2520101
