If children were introduced to the language of science at a younger age, imagine what innovations they would create. Jumbo Minds’ Science ABCs book set facilitates such early exposure.

“These books align with the research that shows that the best time to learn language is from ages 0 – 7, when the brain’s neural connections are growing at an incredible rate of 2 million per second,” explained Annette Dunn, CEO of Jumbo Minds. “We want to take advantage of that and introduce children to the language of science. A solid foundation in science terms and concepts will allow children to build an awareness and love of the building blocks of our world. Children are natural scientists, and are also our nation’s next innovators!”

Dunn’s sister, Corrine Knight, Chief Educational Officer of Jumbo Minds, adds, “The books have multiple learning opportunities, including different definition tiers, bright illustrations, hands-on activities, and a dyslexic-friendly font for increased readability. We carefully chose the terminology in each book to provide an overview of the main scientific concepts of each subject.” For example, children are introduced to “glacier” and “hurricane” in the ABCs of Earth Science, and in the ABCs of Chemistry they learn about “element” and “proton”.

These books can be used in schools, as well as homes. “We are very excited to have the Jumbo Minds’ Science ABCs book collection in our Primary (3-6 year olds) classrooms,” said Maria Darby, owner and teacher at San Lorenzo Montessori in Fairport, NY. “The concise, factual definitions and explanations of science concepts are both enjoyable for the children to read and easy for them to understand. The illustrations are beautiful and isolate the concept the authors are introducing. Finally, we have a way to introduce scientific concepts to the young child.”
