Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour completes visit to New York, next up Chicago
The Webb Ellis Cup on the Wollman Ice Rink at Central Park in New York City as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour, delivered in partnership with Land Rover and DHL
The iconic Webb Ellis Cup has completed its two day visit to New York as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.
Following its arrival on Monday, day two saw the Trophy on ice, as part of Land Rover’s commitment to take the Trophy where it has never been before. The New York leg of the “Least Driven Path” activity saw the Webb Ellis Cup driven onto the Wollman Ice Rink in Central Park.
The next edition of Rugby World Cup, the third largest global sporting event behind the Olympics and Football World Cup, takes place in England and Cardiff next year between September 18 and October 31. Hosted in 13 venues across the country, the USA are in Pool B and will face South Africa, Samoa, Scotland and Japan.
The Trophy Tour, which is being delivered in partnership with Land Rover and DHL, is the first time the trophy has been showcased around the world. It will visit 15 countries over 12 months as part of a celebration of rugby in the lead up to the Tournament.

The Webb Ellis Cup will be at DHL’s Rugby vs American Football Challenge, which will see three Rugby players go head to head with three American Football players – interviews available with athletes such as the fastest man in rugby, Carlin Isles, the US all-time try scoring record holder, Zack Test, and ex-All Black and 1998 Commonwealth Games Gold Medal winner, Christian Cullen, as well as American Football legend and Chicago Bears 1985 Super Bowl winner Dan Hampton, Former Green Bay Packers legend Ahman Green and current Chicago Bears Cornerback & Core Special Teams Player, Sherrick McManis.
