RUGBY LEGEND SHAUN EDWARDS TO “COACH THE COACHES” AT CALDY RUGBY CLUB AND WILMSLOW RUFC

Rugby legend Shaun Edwards will be visiting the Wirral next month to share his knowledge with amateur coaches.

Edwards, a leading coach with Wales and the British Lions and a former rugby league scrum half with Wigan and Great Britain, will be holding a session at Caldy Rugby Club on Tuesday, December 16 (7-9pm) and a session at Wilmslow RUFC on Thursday, December 18 (7-9pm).

The intensive two-hour evening event, called “Coach the Coaches”, is aimed at club 1st and 2nd XV coaches as well as anyone coaching children over the age of 13.

The event has been organised by AFYA, a Wirral-based sports training company.

AFYA is led by Ben Wood, a former Army officer and qualified RFU coach, and James Wade, a top coach who has worked with the likes of Sale Sharks, Wasps and Oxford University.

AFYA aims to give children and young adults the opportunity to express and develop themselves in sport both as individuals and in teams. Apart from rugby, AFYA provides sports training in netball, athletics and tennis.

Ben said: “We are delighted that Shaun will be working with coaches at Caldy next month. He is recognised as one of the game’s greatest players and coaches and I have no doubt everyone taking part in the evening will take away a lot of great ideas.”
