Rugby League Ireland (RLI) are delighted to announce details of their new Media Internship program which will launch in March 2013.
The program is aimed at third level students who are currently studying a related topic such as media or journalism and are interested in gaining experience within the media industry and also have a keen interest in sports.
Interns will be given the opportunity to work alongside one of the 21 clubs currently competing in the All Ireland League as well as the chance to work with representative teams.
With the 2013 Student and Senior world cup’s beckoning this is a massive opportunity for students who wish to have their work published not only locally but possibly nationally and internationally.
Speaking on the launch of the scheme RLI Media Partner Conor Kelly said “The idea behind the program is not only to give students a chance to grow in the media industry but to help them further develop their skills.”
“2013 is a massive year for rugby league in Ireland with various different media activities taking place culminating in November when Ireland competes in the World Cup.”
“Working in media opens up all sorts of possibilities and we are hoping to give a number of students the chance to continue their development on top of college work by providing them with the chance to deal with clubs and players directly on an on-going basis.”
RLI General Manager Gordon Matthews added “I am delighted that we are getting this scheme off the ground. Our clubs need all the help they can get so having an appointed media intern will make life a lot easier for them.”
“We are also delighted to be giving the chance to students to become involved in a great sport and to gain invaluable experience by doing so.”
