Last weekend Rugby League went from club matches to an interprovincial rugby weekend. The matches took place at ALSAA stadium in Dublin, were Leinster played the Irish Students, and Ulster played Munster.

Fermanagh Redskins manager and Ulster Rugby League Branch Referee, Robbie Watson, was selected to referee the Leinster V Irish Students match prior to the Ulster – Munster game. This was Rob’s first refereeing experience at interprovincial level either in rugby league or rugby union. In what turned out to be a thoroughly entertaining match, with the Irish Students beating Leinster by 28 points to 26.

Also four Fermanagh Redskins players represented Ulster in their interprovincial match against Munster. The players taking part were: Redskins captain Kyle Graydon, Eddie Adair, Gary Hall and Hazlit Brian.

Unfortunately on the day Munster defeated Ulster by 36 points to 30. The result does not give a true reflection of the game as Munster were gifted numerous points by an inexperienced Ulster squad.

The Redskins players are now back in action next weekend with an away game to Cookstown.

Kind Regards
Rob Watson
