Five rugby clubs competing in the LV= Cup will appeal to fans this week to help their club claim the first title of 2012 in the LV= SOS Kit Aid ‘Big Kit Challenge’. LV= SOS Kit Aid, in partnership with The Lord’s Taverners, provides disadvantaged youngsters in
the UK and overseas with recycled rugby and cricket kit. Bath, London Wasps, Sale, Scarlets and Worcester will go head-to-head to donate the most kit and help get disadvantaged youngsters playing sport. The ‘Big Kit Challenge’ will see rival fans compete to donate the most unused and unwanted
kit before the LV= Cup Round 4 concludes on Sunday 5 February. To encourage as many people as possible to donate kit, LV= SOS Kit Aid is offering the winning club’s fans the chance to nominate a local school or club to receive a full set of rugby kit. The winning club will be announced on the LV= SOS Kit Aid Facebook page: www.facebook.com/lvsoskitaid. Samantha Preece, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at LV=, said: “Playing sport helps children learn vital life skills and yet many are unable to participate in sports such as cricket and rugby as they do not have the right kit. By recycling and redistributing unwanted
sports kit among children from disadvantaged communities we can help them access a wider range of sports that they might not have otherwise enjoyed.”
The ‘Big Kit Challenge’ is the next step in the award-winning scheme’s ambitious pledge to recycle 26,000kgs of sporting equipment by the end of the year and get 26,000 young people playing sport. The campaign has the backing of celebrity ambassadors including rugby heroes Gareth Chilcott and Matt Perry and current England rugby star, James Haskell.
