June 2012 will see the Royal School, Armagh embark on an end of season developmental tour to Canada. It is the schools touring policy to organise a major tour every three years to allow every boy to have the opportunity to experience an overseas rugby tour. With recent tours heading to destinations such as Australia, South Africa and Argentina – it is the turn of Canada to host the staff and players of RSA.

The duration of the tour will be 16 days and focus mainly on the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Along with being the trip of a lifetime, there will be the opportunity to take in the sites and activities of the world-renowned Rocky Mountains and the events of the Calgary Stampede. The tour party will consist of thirty-six boys and four staff. With ten competitive fixtures organised, this tour will be a tough test for both the 1st XV and a developmental Under 17 side that will encounter 5 fixtures each. The tour is both a fitting end to a tough competitive season and an opportunity to develop the pool of talent currently at the school.

The school would like to thank Mr D Reaney of Southern Cross Dental Laboratories and Mr N Coburn of Ulster Carpets for their support as the two main tour sponsors, also Mr S Bassett of Bassett’s Bathrooms and Mrs L Black of First Trust for their continued support of Senior rugby.

Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the tour and the planned fundraising activities please send an email to gbeggs739@c2kni.net or contact the school on 028 37 522807.
