Virginia RFC U 16 56
Enniskillen RFC U 16 0
In near perfect condition Virginia looked to put behind the pain of losing the Ulster League final the previous week Enniskillen can consider themselves unlucky that they were the victims of the homesides retrubution. Indeed it was only in the first minute of the game where quick hands from Aaron Kearns and Eoghan mc Cabe sent Gareth Mannion crashing over the line untouched. Soon after the forward pack were punishing the visitors mistakes and Sean Warren was first to react to a penalty awarded to Virginia , he tapped the ball to himself and got over for a try before Enniskillen could organise their defence. Enniskillen looked shell shocked and had no answer to the home sides dominance Darragh O Leary and Evan Charters were making life difficult for the opposition and with this dominance Captain Niall Preston was adding to his season tally by finding space in the Enniskillen defence.
The homeside were in no mood to let up and with Owen Doyle and Luke Sherriff dominant in the scrums it was from one of the scrums that got quick ball to the back and Martin O connell showed a clean pair of heels to get over the line.Half time couldn’t come quick enough for the visitors however the second half started where the first left off with Gareth Mannion getting his second after quick hands from the backline with Mark Gilsenan dictating the play. Jamie Davidson was only on the pitch a few minutes when after a free flowing move from the home side he got the ball down in the corner. Mantis Ivaskevicius moved into scrum half position and it was not long before he made it count by bursting through the away sides tired defence.
Virginia were still hungry for more and the industrious Mateo Caso capped off a strong display with diving underneath the posts . With the introduction of Euan Henry to the outhalf position this was asking more even more questions of the enniskillen defence and it was another sub Big Sam Ajetunmobi who crashed over the line with two defenders hanging out of him.
The Virginia coaching team were happy with the performance but are well aware that sterner tests lie ahead.
