Carrick Reapers took on Civil Service in a heavily contested Butler shield fixture. The Carrick pack were well up for the hard contest with positive runs and defense, eventually the work paid off with the first of five tries early in the first fifteen minutes. Gordy Taylor on the line and calling tactical rolling sub changes helped cement the ever increasing pressure being applied to Civil Service. Eventually five tries from the pack including two from Bree with another two looking secure only to be denied by the referee. The pressure was clear on Bree’s mud splatted face he didn’t want a third. All -round great effort by all eighteen players, special mention for Craig Brazier & Marty McCongnical who received man of the match T-Shirts for their part.” Special praise should go to the Reapers captain for somehow keeping his top clean for 80 minutes!
