Instonians tough it out against Dromore and the Weather
Instonians 19 – Dromore 8
Kurkri Qualifying League 1
Date: 30 January 2016
Weather: Very cold, biting wind, punctuated with wintery showers, conditions heavy.
Instonians made it ten league wins in a row in this hard fought league encounter with Dromore at Shaw’s Bridge. There were eight changes in personnel from the 17 man squad which had been victorious against Cooke the previous week. Matters were compounded when they lost their hard running full-back Robbie Kirk to a head injury in the second quarter and then their influential number 8 Rory McCurry before half time.
Yet, it was good to see the return of centres David Scott, after long term injury, and Misi Bogitini, who had also been unavailable for some time. Zach Finlay returned to the side on the left wing and Richard McCarthy was deputising for the injured Fraser Wright at outside half. With all these changes to the threequarter line and half-back, combined with the icy wind, it was not surprising that the backs lacked some of their customary fluency. Josh Creggan was in at loose head for Conor Gallagher and Mark Mairs was deputising for Robbie Whitten on the blindside flank. We had two new comers on the bench from the last outing in Michael Nevin and James Carruthers……. CLICK HERE for the full report & shots
