Monaghan BioSciences sponsored first 15 improved their away record with a hard earned win in an exciting match in Mullusk on Saturday last. Monaghan had to show all their fighting qualities after a poor opening quarter of an hour saw them fall 14 points in arrears.
The poor start could possibly be put down to too many changes having to be made, changes which saw the Farney men field 4 prop forwards. As a result Declan Savage (resplendently bedecked in Man City socks!!) packing down in the second row. Young John Connolly (1 for the future) got a run out at prop and accounted for himself well against a seasoned and grizzled campaigner from OPHIR. The scrum did take a while to settle and the home side took advantage of this by pushing the Monaghan pack back over their own line for the opening score of the game after only 4 minutes…….
