Instonians won the toss and elected to play into the strong wind in the first half.
The first 20 minutes were a scrappy affair.
Connemara’s young side made several knocks on or misjudged the wind kicking the ball long, all to give possession back to Instonians.
Even in this early scrappy phase it was clear we were going to dominate the scrum, lineouts and the breakdown. What stopped us from scoring into the wind was our own knock ons, poor passes or decision making.
On 25 minutes we got our first try, a penalty won from pressure at a Connemara scrum was kicked to the corner. Lineout won, solid maul and Glen Baxter touched down. David Scott slotted an excellent conversion into the strong wind.
