Instonians 19 – Clogher Valley 17
This was always going to be a tricky fixture. First in the league versus second and Instonians still recovering from a very strenuous cup final win at Kingspan Ravenhill just 4 days previously. There were real fears that this fixture might prove a bridge too far for this young team.
Clogher Valley kicked off with a stiff breeze at their backs on a dry but overcast Shaw’s Bridge. The ball was well fielded and Instonians put up a high kick which gave full back Robbie Kirk the chance to win it back. He caught it superbly and made it available to his support players. This led to a back line attack which ended when right wing Zach Finlay was enveloped just five metres from the goal line, after a darting run……….
