1st XV have bonus point win at home to Donaghadee
Instonians 27 – Donaghdee 7
After last week’s surprise defeat last week away to Ballyclare Instonians got themselves back on track in this league win against Donaghadee. It was quite a fractious game played in increasingly wet conditions. But right from the start Instonians showed that they meant business. Dee kicked off and number 8 Rory McCurry fielded the ball and set off on one of his storming runs right through the heart of the opposition. It took a good scrambling defence to eventually bring him down inside the Donaghadee 22.
Instonians maintained the pressure. After 2 minutes Dee were penalised and Instonians kicked for the corner. From the lineout they drove infield and three or four phases later Rory McCurry charged over for a try with just three minutes on the clock. The try went unconverted.
