Ballyclare Vs Belfast Harlequins Ballyclare Progress to Junior Cup Semi’s
The Robinson Services sponsored, Ballyclare, progressed to the semi-finals of the MMW Legal Junior Cup with a 21-15 victory over Belfast Harlequins 2’s at the Cloughan.
At the pre-match reception President Ken Wylie thanked Bill McMullen, Kare Bears Day Nursery, Davy McWhirter and John Blayney for their sponsorship of the day’s game.
After a couple of days of heavy rain with similar conditions continuing throughout the match, Ballyclare started the game purposefully. An early penalty attempt by Byers was uncharacteristically, well missed. Ballyclare did however score after five minutes. Progressing deep inside the Quins 22, from a ruck, the ball was popped to the charging Al Boyd who couldn’t be stopped from touching down. A much better kick by Byers increased the lead to 7-0.
