Bangor through to Towns Cup semi-final
At the third time of asking, and given the ongoing pitch issues at Donaldson Park, Bangor overcame Donaghadee at Upritchard Park in the Towns Cup.
Despite the postponement of last Saturday’s scheduled meeting at Donaghadee, the conditions underfoot were no better on Wednesday evening and, with pressure mounting to complete this cup fixture and continuing issues with Donaghadee’s pitch, the decision was made to play at Upritchard Park which was in considerably better shape. Local derbies are always an intriguing occasion and, with a Towns Cup semi-final place for the winner, the stakes were higher than usual. Having had the previous weekend off, the players were well recovered from their difficult game at Dromore and were also boosted by the return of Curtis Stewart after a lengthy lay-off following a shoulder injury.
