Interesting opening results in Qualifying league Three with Donegal and Holywood sitting top on four points after their opening league wins. PSNI and Larne have two points.

Donegal v PSNI

Two league wins along with an impressive Godron West cup win at Letterkenny would make Donegal favourites to win this game. PSNI were well beaten by Ophir in the Gordon West Cup 46 – 22 but bounced back to win their opening league game at home to Newry 24 – 11. Donegal to win

Letterkenny v Lurgan

Letterkenny suffered a 99 – 0 defeat at Larne in their league game last Sat. They did win their opening home league game against Monaghan 28 – 5 the previous week. Lurgan lost their opening league game away to Newry 23 – 20 and their Gordon West Cup home game to Ophir 48 – 12. Difficult game to call. Home advantage should see letterkenny bounce back from their heavy defeat at Larne. Letterkenny to win.

Qualifying league Four.

Ophir and Civil Service sit top of this league with four points from their opening league wins followed by Virginia and BHSFP on 2 pts.

Armoy v Cavan

Armoy lost their opening Gordon West Cup game at home to BHSFP 25 – 10 followed by an opening day league defeat to Ophir 38 – 7. They were due to play Londonderry YMCA at home last Sat. Unfortunately no referee turned up. Both teams ended up playing a friendly. Cavan lost at home to Monaghan 34 – 5 in the Gordon West Cup and 12 – 0 to Civil Service in their opening league game. In the local derby league game at Virginia – Cavan lost 32 – 21. Difficult game to call. Can Armoy record their first win of the season.

Civil Service v Ophir.

Service lost their opening Gordon West Cup game at Stormont to Holywood 55 – 7. They have bounced back to win their first two league games at Cavan 12 – 0 and away to BHSFP 36 – 0. Ophir must be favourites to win this league. They remain undefeated after league wins over BHSFP 55 – 11, Armoy 38 – 7 and PSNI 46 -22 in the Gordon West Cup. Ophir to win.

Londonderry YMCA v Virginia

Londonderry YMCA have yet to play a competitive game this season. Their opening league game away to BHSFP was postponed . Last Saturdays game at Armoy was played as a friendly due to no referee turning up. YM received a bye in their opening Gordon West Cup game. Virginia beat Newry in their opening Gordon West game 20 – 15. They lost their opening league game at home to BHSFP 15 – 9 and enjoyed a home 32 – 21 win over near neighbours Cavan. Interesting game to call. Willy lamrock may not agree with my prediction. Virginia to win.
