Teams that get through to the quarters and semis of this competition are not always but sometimes an indication of the current state of play in the highest echelons of Ulster Club Rugby. Whats the prospect for Monday is undoubtedly a level of rugby that will combine lightning pace at the breakdown, seriously good packs and backs who know how to tear you up. You will see it all on Monday at the Powerade Towns Cup Final and it will be an incredible game of rugby for an Easter Monday.
The participating teams in this years final are Clogher valley RFC & Donaghadee RFC, their journey to the final has been an exciting build up for anyone who has followed the game! There will be a Towns Cup in one of these towns come Monday night and a clubhouse cabinet will hold the Towns cup for 12 months something that the club will cherish with pride!

WHEN IT STARTED – The Ulster Towns Cup stretches back to 1883. The final is traditionally played on Easter Monday at Ravenhill. It is the second oldest competition, the other being the Ulster Schools Cup.
WHICH TEAMS PARTICPATE – It is confined to teams outside of Belfast. Since the resumption of play after World War II, where a town is represented by a senior club, their second team is the one that competes.
WHY THE COMPETITION WAS SET UP – The Ulster Towns Cup is a rugby union competition organized by the Ulster branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union. It was founded for competition between teams representing Provincial Towns, i.e. outside Belfast. It used to be that anyone born in a town was entitled to play for that town in this competition. That has now changed and you must be a registered player with the town club. Players can only be registered to one club.
