PRFC Pitch Maintenance Plan 2013
We are now well into the off season. Hope fully all players, coaches, managers, parents and supporters have the feet up and are recharging the batteries for next season.
The grounds team are now entering their busiest period of the year to start preparing the pitches for season 2013-2014 and had previously issued a notice asking all members to keep off the pitches until further notice, so we thought we had better update you on what the plan is for the pitches and what works you are going to see taking place in the coming weeks.
As a quick bit of history, most of you will know that due to financial constraints we weren’t able to direct funding towards essential pitch maintenance for a number of years. This resulted in pitch number 4 (closest to the northway) being taken out of action and the Pitch Number 3 (plateau pitch) becoming unplayable for most of the season. To compound the problems the DOE drainage that services the Northway hadn’t been maintained and became blocked preventing run off from our grounds and a back up of water. It also turned pitches 3 and 4 into the drain for the water coming off the Northway and for anything coming down the hill from Edenderry. The Northway drainage issue has now been resolved and along with the recent ASDA works the drainage adjustments are now almost complete…… for the full report CLICK HERE
