Sometimes you can see every moment as a missed opportunity and thats when it does not go our way. What was good – everything. Countless turn over balls, scrums that yielded something like 10 turnover balls, numerous open play turnovers, not a single ball knocked foward from kick offs or high balls, great rucking, great awareness under pressure, a superb style of play, and a full squad of accomplished skillful rugby players. The conditions deteriorated considerable in the second half. It was a very good game of rugby. Portadown will be wondering just what do we have to do! The passion and commitment of the players and the wider club was so evident in the changing rooms afterwards and fair play to Richmond on playing so well and we wish them every success.

We will always suport Portadown RFC no matter what and with such healthy minds and physical ability as these guys have it is a pleasure to learn along with them how to move forward even in defeat to cover them as they constantly perfect their craft and represent on this occasion all of Ulster Rugby with free running rugby, great decisions and against all the factors produce a performance that means they are “good enough” and are a hairs breadth from not only winning an ALL Ireland play off but excelling in every dimension of AIL Rugby.
They are the Qualifying 1 league champions, the number one junior rugby club in Ulster. A club with clear ambitions, with a superb playing population, coaching and management who will not be beaten – PRIDE & ABILITY is a powerful mix and WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
