Organised by the Donegal Schools Committee the event was overseen by Ulster Branch Development Officers Darren McGuigan and Joy Sparkes. The day was split into 2 sections u15s and u18s. The u15s girls group was based on limited experience and they received coaching from Ballyshannon Community Rugby Officer Ray Gallagher with assistance from Rosses School rugby coach Dearbhla Fox. The girls were put through fun activities working on skill development and team games leading into tag rugby matches and eventually a modified contact game.

The senior u18s group played round robin full contact games at 10 a side with scrum/lineout variations. This proved to be a very competitive group with most girls looking to offload in the tackle rather than go to ground which made for a fast flowing game.

At the end of a very productive day the girls were spoken to by Joy about the next progression from schools into club rugby, the girls have the opportunity to join a local club with Ballyshannon, Letterkenny and Finn Valley now in the position of having u18s sides with a youth club day organised for sunday 4th December at Letterkenny RFC which is open to all youth clubs in the west.

Schools that took part were

Rosses School Dungloe
Magh Ene, Bundoran
St Columas, Stranorlar
