The Olympic Torch made its way to Eaton Park this week – the home of Ballymena Rugby Club. Tyler McIntyre and his dad William brought the torch to the Club where they were photographed with Tom Wiggins the Director of Community Rugby. Tom was delighted to welcome the torch and Tyler to the Club. Tyler was one of the torch bearers in Ballymena. He was selected to carry the torch because of the remarkable work both he and his family have undertaken for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.
Tom stated – ‘Tyler played for our Under 15 side 2 seasons ago, however he wasn’t able to play last season but we are delighted he intends to return either as a player or in a support capacity this season. It was great to see Tyler proudly carrying the torch through the town and we are very proud as a Club that he wanted to bring the torch out to the Park. Our youth section, given our association with Tyler and his family, have adopted the NI Cancer Fund for Children as our chosen charity and we aim to raise money for the charity through several events in the forth coming season’.
