NUTTY KRUST FLOODLIT TOURNAMENT 2014
Wednesday night saw the last of the first round matches played in this year’s u19s Nutty Krust tournament with Dungannon earning a place in the Quarter Final draw with a hard fought win over Randalstown
Playing in wet conditions on a greasy pitch and greasy ball it was Dungannon who went on the attack in the early minutes but were held up by the Randalstown defence and with an excellent turnover they cleared their line. Both teams exchanged penalties which were both missed . Dungannon prop Tainue Whanawhara made 2 strong runs gaining a lot of ground and it was the second of these which lead to the opening score of the game by no 13 Andrew Lee who had just returned to the pitch from the sin bin . The extra points were not converted 5-0 to the co Tyrone men .
Further sustained pressure on the Randalstown led to a try by the powerful prop Whanawhara just before half time whistle again the extra points were not converted.

The opening 20 mins of the second half saw Randalstown dominate terrioty and possession but with no penetration they could not cross the Dungannon line. 25 mins into the second half Dungannon made a break which led to a penalty being awarded which was converted by no 13 Andrew Lee making the score 13-0. Dungannon dominated the closing minutes after Randalstown had failed to make the most of a strong performance in the first 20 mins of the half.
The game was a physical encounter but conditions didn’t allow a flowing game with too many dropped passes and turnovers spoiling the continuity of the game but it was Dungannons strength up front ,ball carrying and scrum which saw them through to the next round .
Man of the Match went to Dungannon Prop Tainue Whanawhara which was presented in the Clubhouse after the game by Clive Bowles Portadown director of rugby
