A new version of the IRB Laws App for mobile devices has been launched and is already proving very popular among digital users worldwide.
The App, an invaluable tool for all Rugby fans who need quick and regular access to the Laws of the Game, enables users to consult Laws, and watch video examples and animations to help build a greater understanding of the application of Rugby Laws.
There are more than 80 embedded videos, with more than 200 videos available via internet links as well as 49 referee signals detailed in words, pictures and videos.
The App was first launched in November 2010, and since then it has been downloaded nearly 90,000 times and subsequent updates have been downloaded almost 160,000 times.
The new version saw more than 22,000 downloads in the first five days of release. It is available in English, French and Spanish and the iPad version will be released shortly.
“We’re absolutely delighted with the interest in this App since its initial launch in 2010,” said IRB Training and Medical Manager Mark Harrington.
“It just goes to show how Rugby fans want to better educate themselves about the Laws of our Game. This newest version of the IRB Laws App is an even better resource, with its new design and added features. It’s a highly innovative App that will be extremely beneficial to all those involved with the Game, from players to coaches to referees and even the average fan.”
Since its initial release in November 2010, the IRB Laws App has been downloaded by almost 40,000 people in the United Kingdom alone, with the resource tool also very popular amongst digital users in the United States, France, Australia and Ireland.
The invaluable tool for the global Rugby family can be downloaded from www.irblaws.com or via the App Store. It also contains links to the portfolio of interactive IRB websites designed to educate and inform the global Rugby family, including www.irbrugbyready.com, www.irbcoaching.com, www.keeprugbyclean.com and www.irbplayerwelfare.com
As further proof of the continued success of the IRB Laws education strategy, the www.irblaws.com website has now been viewed more than 1.6 million times.
The App includes information on Laws 1-22 of, plus Sevens and Under 19 variations and contains a bookmarking feature allowing any specific clause to be marked for quick future reference. The latest version of the App also includes an abbreviated quiz.
