Motivating Yourself when You Feel Lazy

Working out if fantastic. It helps to keep you fit and healthy. It boosts your confidence and mood. It helps you to maintain a healthy weight, and it has many other awesome benefits. But, sometimes, you just don’t want to. You know all of the benefits, but you’ve just got no motivation. You are in a lazy mood.

Even those of us that love exercising and usually stick to a fitness routine sometimes lose motivation. We get out of bed, and we just don’t fancy going out for a run or hitting the gym. Instead, we want to lie on the sofa and watch TV or spend the morning in bed. Once in a while, there’s nothing wrong with this. In fact, giving yourself permission to be lazy occasionally can be as good for you as exercise. We all need to chill out and take some me time, and there’s nothing wrong with being lazy sometimes. But, what about when it drags on?

Once you get out of your routine, it’s easy to find yourself making excuses and struggling to get back to it. When that happens, you need to find new ways to motivate yourself.

Get Some New Gear

People are shallow. We like stuff. We like treating ourselves. Buy yourself some new workout gear from Anax Fitness, and you’ll be much keener to test it out.

Remember What You Love

If you don’t fancy going for a run, don’t. Think about what you love to do. Is there an exercise that you enjoy more than any other? If so, find a way to do it.

It’s also a good idea to remind yourself of why you love to exercise. What do you get out of it?

How does it make you feel? Remind yourself of all of the good things, and you’ll be raring to go. It’s also worth reminding yourself that exercise is a great excuse to be lazy another time. Burning extra calories, working out and looking after yourself, gives you an excuse to rest up another time, without it affecting your training plans.

Try Something New

If you are struggling to find the motivation to get back to your usual fitness routines, or you can’t remember ever truly loving an exercise, maybe you are doing the wrong things. Trying something new can be a great way to get yourself excited about exercise again. Look for some team sports at your gym or community centre. Team sport can be a great way to start having fun exercising again.

Go for a Walk

Walking is such an underrated exercise. It gets you off the sofa, it works your muscles and gets your heart pumping faster, and it helps you to burn off extra calories. Don’t underestimate the importance of walking.

Set Yourself Goals

Targets and goals and a great way to rediscover your focus and motivation. They don’t have to be large targets, like beating your PBs. It could just be walking 10000 steps or exercising for 120 minutes a week.
