Minis Monaghan hosted an evening game last Wednesday against Cavan. This was a game that had been postponed a number of times and was due to be played under lights but with the clocks going forward no lights were needed. A great turnout by all age groups and some great Rugby was played. No match reports suffice to say that Monaghan dominated all games.
On Saturday Armagh hosted a Mini Tournament. After a bit of confusion at the start and a few late arrivals games did proceed. The U11’s/12’s played 6 games and won them all. The U10’s played 5 games won 4 and lost 1.The U9’s played 5 games won 3 and lost 2.The U8’s won all their games and won the Trophy. The U7’s won most of their games. Overall a great performance by all teams and everyone should be very proud. As we are a small Club and have to compete with very large clubs we can certainly hold our own. A credit to all the coaches involved.
As the season has now ended I would like to thank all the coaches and their helpers without whom we wouldn’t have a Minis. Also the Parents for their committment to getting children to training and games it’s not easy to balance all activities at the same time well done. A special thanks to all the Ladies who helped out during the year providing sandwiches, buns etc and helped out in the kitchen it’s a credit to you.
Finally if I’m still around next season will see you then, the new season will start sometime in September will keep you updated, enjoy your summer and don’t forget you don’t have to put the Rugby balls away you can still practice. If you hear of any children wishing to take up Rugby bring them along next season. Yours in Rugby Patsy McElroy.
