The lads were greeted this morning in Dromore with torrential wind and rain and a horrible playing surface to top it off but were quick to make a mark with good hands resulting in a try for Jamie Sherlock. Monaghan continued to take advantage of the first half wind and notched up two more tries, one from Michael Savage followed in quickly by another by Dean Wilson, both of which converted by Stuart Allen. An interception inside the Monaghan half saw Oisín Campbell go over for a try to leave the half time score 24 – 0.
With the wind favouring Dromore in the second half and their forward pack displaying more endeavor than ours, they were quick to capitalise with a try but their dominance was short lived and despite a litany of errors from Monaghan, Michael Savage notched up four more tries on the trot, with Oisín Campbell converting three of them. Monaghan got a little careless towards the end and allowed Dromore over for a soft try but it was merely a consolation score. Our forwards had a difficult day and were continually challenged at the break down but yet again the back three of Dean Brennan, James Treanor and Darragh Todd showed some great enterprise. Man of the Match goes to Michael Savage.
Final Score, Monaghan 50 – 12 Dromore.
