Monaghan RFC Notes: U13 I XV 59 v Cavan RFC U13 I XV 9: Report

On Saturday Cavan U13’s came to visit, the game started with Cavan kicking a
penalty over to make it 3-0, but Monaghan pounced back quickly by scoring
two tries in quick succession, both scored and converted by Jamie Agnew to
make it 14-3. Cavan scored another penalty then to make it 14-6. Monaghan
started scoring again when James Mallen went on a run and scored under the
posts. The try was converted by Jamie Agnew to make it 21-6. Another try
shortly after from James Mallen again made it 28-6. Cavan then scored yet
another penalty to make it 28-9 to Monaghan. Jamie Agnew went on a long run
but was stopped by the last man beside the try-line, but John Mallen was
there supporting and he took the ball and scored in the corner to make it
33-9 at halftime. Monaghan continued to score with Michael O’Brien crossing
the line twice early in the second half to make it 45-9. Ryan Kenny went on
a long run barging through the Cavan defence to score under the posts.
Another long run from Jack Lynch in the final play of the game made the
final score 59-9 to Monaghan.
