2013 started off for this group of players last Friday night under the floodlights at Rafeenan in a very useful friendly match against a Virginia side that just failed to get any rhythm going.

A great way to start the second half of the season for the Monaghan lads who used this game as an opportunity for the younger members of the panel to express themselves and to give their coaches something to look at into the future.
For the most part they played simple but effective rugby to notch up 33 points but also sometimes over playing the ball and indeed forgetting the basics when it seemed impossible to do. Once again credit must be given to the Monaghan side who defended as a unit at every opportunity not allowing Virginia to register a score.

Next Saturday morning Monaghan host Omagh in their second last league match and if this team show any form they should be pushing for a league quarter final place, including a final league match win of course, which would justify the efforts shown to date by both panel and coaches.

On behalf of the U-15 panel and coaches may we take this opportunity to express our deepest sympathy to the Alister family on their recent bereavement.

And we wish club members family and friends a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year and hope to see you all out supporting this fine U-15 squad.
